Fiery Serpent Pizza Calzone Recipe

  • 1 can of Crescent Rolls

  • Couple of packages of favorite pizza meats (pre-cooked)

  • Mozzarella cheese, grated

  • Parmesan/Romano cheese, grated

  • Jar of pizza sauce

  • egg yolks (3)

  • 2 olives either black or green olives with red centers

  • red pepper (cut into strips to form tongue)

  • 2 whole cloves for nose

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

On a flour dusted surface open up the crescent rolls without breaking them apart. Pinch the seams and then roll out to form a large rectangle.

Brush the rectangle with Pizza Sauce. Then layer it with pizza meats and Mozzarella cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan/Romano mixture. Then take one long side of the rectangle and fold it over to the center. Beat one egg yolk and brush it over the top of this half as a type of edible glue. Then fold over the other side to the center and pinch the seams closed to secure in the filling. Even out the width of the snake while tapering one end for a tail and the other end form a head.

Place the pizza calzone on the foil lined cookie sheet and form into a snake shape, such as the letter "S." Beat the two additional egg yolks and add food colorings to paint the top of the snake with patterns such as a diamond back. Insert the cloves for nostrils and the olives for eyes (you can use toothpicks to secure). Create a tongue with the red peppers and bake your snake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
