(Some homemade playdough and a rolling pin teach us this week with the Israelites about the first Passover.)  

The Lord gave us the blueprint of His Word to architect our family on Jesus Christ.  

Going through the Bible with your family…  

Weekly Scripture:
Exodus 12  

Story:
“The First Passover; Israel Delivered”  

Application:
A soft heart can be molded, but a hard heart will be without hope.  

Summary: 
The Lord told Moses and Aaron to explain to the children of Israel the were to take a perfect male lamb, kill it at sunset and put the blood on the side and top of their doorposts of their houses. They explained that God would pass through all the land of Egypt that night and strike all the firstborn, both man and beast. But God would Passover each house that had the blood of the lamb on the door-post. The blood of the lamb was their protection.  

Focus: 
We must keep our hearts soft through obedience if we want God to mold us. If we choose the path of disobedience, it will harden our hearts toward God.  

Finding Christ:
On the first Passover they were to use unleavened bread and a lamb without blemish. 1 Corinthians 5:7 says “Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.”  

Live the Lesson: 
Make some playdough together or else buy some at the store. Here is the recipe for playdough: http://www.familyblueprint.org/craft_recipes.htm 

(Before hand prepare two hearts. Place one in a sealable baggie and the other leave out in the air so it will harden.)

Take the playdough and have each child shape it into two hearts. Give them one sealable baggie and tell them this represents putting the blood of the Passover lamb on your door. Have them place one heart in the baggie, but the other heart chooses to disobey and remains uncovered. Tell them you did this already to see what happens and share with them your two hearts. The one in the baggie is still soft, but the one sitting out is now hard. Show them what happens when trials come upon the two hearts. Allow your rolling pin or something hard to be the trials. Show how the soft heart is flattened, but you can remold it into a heart. Then take the hard heart and show them when it goes through the same process, it is shattered beyond repair. There is not remolding it into a heart.  

Memory Verse: 
“Do not harden your hearts.” Joshua 24:24  

Prayer: 
Dear Lord, please help me to obey you in all things. Help my heart to remain soft and moldable in Your hands.  

Living the Life: 
This week look for things that are changing in each of your lives for the better through the process of God molding you. Share what you can do if you are having a difficult time submitting to the process of being molded.
