15 More Free or Cheap Dates (for married couples)

1.        Cuddle up with your sweetie on a romantic hay or sleigh ride. Make sure to think of mosquito repellant or blankets depending on the time of year.

  2.        Plan a progressive dinner with other church members. A truly fun idea is to have the youth group in the church do all the cooking, serving, and babysitting.

  3.        Have dinner at home with the kids. Then go out for dessert and hot chocolate, coffee, or tea alone.

  4.        Go to an arcade and play together.  Tickets redeem something fun to share...sticky cotton candy anyone?

  5.        When was the last time you visited the library? Choose a time when there is a guest speaker. Check out a book on a subject you two would enjoy learning together. Such as massage or candle making.

  6.        Take in a poetry reading or karaoke at a local coffeehouse. Christian coffeehouses are now all the rage and often come with a free band to entertain you.

  7.        Bring a bottle of sparkling cider, cheese and crackers to an outdoor concert. Don’t forget the sunscreen or insect repellant and a blanket to spread out!

  8.        Take a “cheap” community course in some subject you would both enjoy.

  9.        Go roller skating or ice skating at the local rink/pond. Be bashful, but flirtatious on "couple's skate."  If you find yourself falling down, make light of it with such phrases as, “I keep falling for you over and over baby!”

  10.     Every region has their “look-out point” where couples congregate to spend time alone. Make sure you bring the breath mints!!!

  11.     Play together. Go to the park and take turns pushing each other on the swings and going down the slides. If they have a barbeque pit you can roast hot dogs and marshmallows to make S’mores.

  12.     Camping! Camping can be cheaper than a motel and far more romantic. This is when a wife can prove her love by going fishing with her hubby for his pleasure. He might have to bear with her conversation instead of silence though (you won’t catch many fish if you don’t whisper wifey)! Don’t forget to take marshmallows to roast over the campfire.

  13.    Fingerpaint with chocolate pudding. Butcher’s paper works well for this. Have a contest and paint each other’s portraits…and allow the “fingerpainting” to roam.

  14.      Baseball farm teams! High school football games! Find a local team and you will find CHEAP tickets to go to a sports event that is bound to bring some cheering and excitement from both of you.

  15.     Drive to a remote, but safe place (preferably scenic, but any quiet place will do). Turn up the radio, get out of the car, and ask your spouse for this dance, stepping on feet as little as possible.
